On Friday, November 1st, Tomago Aluminium held its 2024 Innovation and Excellence Awards at Newcastle’s NEX Centre, honouring the exceptional achievements of our employees. With over 200 attendees, the evening celebrated the dedication and hard work that have advanced our business. Featuring eight award categories and live music from The Baker Boys, the event maintained a lively and celebratory atmosphere.

This year we received over 300 nominations, underscoring the talent and commitment of our team. CEO Jerome Dozol remarked, “The contributions from both individuals and teams this year have been remarkable. The drive, creativity, and hard work put into every project have not only pushed us to new milestones but also highlighted the immense talent within our organisation. Whether through innovative problem-solving, continuous safety improvements, or advancing our sustainability goals, each achievement has left a lasting impact.”

Among the outstanding achievements, one team stood out for their extraordinary collaboration and determination. For this reason, we are proud to announce that our Overall Winner for 2024 is a team rather than an individual. This dedicated group was recognised for their commitment to reducing fluoride in the Rod Shop through the Kaizen process.

Through four Kaizen improvement events, they addressed key dust-generating areas—including the bath breaker building, bath bagging building, bath loading area, and bath processing building. Their efforts resulted in numerous safety improvements, creating a cleaner and safer workplace for all.

Congratulations to all our winners! Each category winner received $2,500 towards domestic travel and a special trophy, while our team winners will enjoy a team event and received a Tomago ingot and plaque engraved with their names. Our Overall Winning Team, consisting of 26 individuals, will be treated to a special event valued at $20,000 in the New Year.

Thank you to all our employees for your hard work and commitment to Tomago Aluminium’s success. We look forward to another year of innovation, excellence, and achievements!
