It was a privilege to have Martin Heppell from The Resilience Project join us at Hexham Bowling Club last week. Martin shared his wisdom and practical strategies for fostering resilience in everyday life to improve mental health and wellbeing. He reminded us to practice Gratitude, incorporate Empathy in our daily lives, and embrace Mindfulness techniques.

He emphasised the importance of recognising and appreciating the small blessings in our lives, even during challenging times. By focusing on gratitude, we can shift our perspectives and find solace in the simplest of things, ultimately leading to improved mental wellbeing.

Empathy was another crucial aspect that Martin encouraged us to incorporate into our daily lives. He emphasised the significance of being compassionate and understanding towards others, as well as ourselves. In an increasingly fast-paced and interconnected world, the ability to empathise is a skill that can strengthen our relationships and create a more supportive and nurturing environment.

Furthermore, Martin introduced the concept of Mindfulness, a practice that has gained immense popularity in recent years for its profound impact on mental health. Mindfulness involves being fully present in the moment, paying attention to thoughts and emotions without judgment. By incorporating mindfulness techniques into our routines, we can reduce stress, anxiety, and increase overall resilience.
