In June, representatives from TAC had the privilege of meeting with Emma’s Warriors, a recipient of this year’s Workplace Giving Program, to present a $16,000 donation.

Emma’s Warriors is a local charity established by Emma, a remarkable 14-year-old, and her equally inspiring mother, Alex. Emma’s personal battle with leukemia inspired her to create the charity, aiming to support tweens and teenagers facing similar challenges. The organisation offers care kits and assistance to teenagers enduring extended hospital stays.

Emma’s mum, Alex Walsh, wanted to thank the whole Tomago Aluminium Family:

“Receiving such a generous donation truly humbled us. As a relatively new charity, we are so grateful for your support. This donation will go directly to supporting tweens, teens, and young people facing serious illness and long hospital stays, as well as their families. It will enable us to keep supplying our ‘care kit’ backpacks, which contain essential items for a comfortable hospital stay, including patterned sheets, a towel, a Firestick, a YETI cup, fairy lights, room spray, and much more.”

The funds will also allow the charity to extend their support further with practical and financial assistance for families going through a vulnerable time.

“We look forward to keeping you up to date throughout the year with the many children and families you are helping. Your donation will make a difference in the lives of many children and their families.”

Thank you to Jeff Evans for nominating this very worthy charity.

This year, a total of $144,000 was raised through the collective generosity of our Workplace Giving members and contributions from TAC. Of this amount, $64,000 was distributed among four charities selected by our employees: Emma’s Warriors, Dog Rescue Newcastle, Talk2MeBro, and Fighting for Connar. Additionally, a significant portion totalling $80,000 was presented to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service during a special cheque presentation and morning tea.
