Thursday the 8th of September was National R U OK? Day. To recognise the day, members of our Health and Safety Committee greeted employees as they came through the gates to ask, Are you ok? A coffee cart was also onsite handing out free coffee and healthy treats which allowed people to have a relaxed chat and to pick up a leaflet on how to ask someone if they are ok and how to seek assistance.
R U OK? Day is essentially a day to practice our check-in skills with workmates, friends, and family. As close as we might be, it can be hard to tell how we are doing or if we are struggling with something big or small. Regularly checking in, reaching out and showing we care can change the lives of us all.
A video was put together with Manager of People, Safety and Environment, Simon Mitchell, addressing our employees to remind them all to check in with themselves and each other – not just today, but every day.
The video was sent to everyone via email and was watched by teams in their toolbox sessions.
Thanks to our Health Services team for planning the day and making it a success.
