We are excited to welcome Andrew Newman to Tomago Aluminium in the position of Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary (CFO).
Andrew has an extensive background in finance, commercial and operational leadership across a variety of mining and metals businesses in Australia and Canada.
Andrew and his family have joined us from northwest Queensland where he worked as the CFO for Glencore’s QLD Metals division and most recently headed up operations at a junior copper explorer.
When asked what attracted him to the role Andrew said, “There was a real alignment in skill set, with the bulk of my career to date being focused on the mining, smelting and refining of base metals. In addition, the Tomago role allows me to gain experience in another commodity like Aluminium.”
“The Energy strategy at TAC is an exciting opportunity and after overseeing the energy portfolio at Glencore, the move to renewables and emphasis on decarbonisation is familiar territory for me,” said Andrew.
The location was another draw card for Andrew, with Newcastle being a refreshing sea change for his family, after nine years in northwest Queensland. Andrew is looking forward to enjoying the beautiful coastline with his wife and two young children and being close to everything our city has to offer.
