Today, Tomago Aluminium had the privilege of hosting an onsite celebration for NAIDOC Week, and it was a significant occasion. The event brought together our workforce to commemorate and appreciate the rich culture, heritage, and contributions of Indigenous Australians.

The event included a traditional smoking ceremony conducted by local Worimi Elders. The smoking ceremony is a sacred Aboriginal tradition that involves burning native plants to cleanse and purify the surroundings, as well as to pay respect to the ancestors.

The Aboriginal flag was proudly raised in recognition of this special day and a BBQ lunch kept tummies full. It was also an opportunity for everyone to learn more about our Indigenous Elders.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this significant occasion. By coming together as a community, we demonstrate our commitment to promoting inclusivity, respect, and understanding.

Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Tomago Aluminium was a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the diverse cultures and histories that shape our nation. We want to ensure we foster an environment of cultural appreciation and awareness at Tomago Aluminium and are committed to upholding the principles of reconciliation and working towards a more inclusive future.
